I shouldve been 100 times better Curry

Back-to-back NBA MVP Steph Curry say’s he should have played 100 times better in the Golden State Warriors’ 120-90 defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals on Wednesday.

The Warriors won the first two games of the series, but a desperate Cleveland outfit led by LeBron James came back strongly in game three.

“They were playing aggressive defence and they came out a big punch but I didn’t do anything about it or play my game. For me to do what I need to do to help my team I have to play 100 times better than I did, especially in the first quarter to control the game and I didn’t do it.

“We are in good shape. It wasn’t the way we wanted tonight to go, myself included but I am glad we took care of home court so we are still in a good position. Obviously it’s a series and they did what they had to do to take care of home court. But we have a great opportunity on Friday to keep control of the series and that’s going to be a challenge for us.”

Warriors Klay Thompson accused Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov of dirty play following a collision that left him with an injured thigh.

“I don’t get it, I mean I’m running full speed downhill I just don’t know who’s trying to set a pick on you in the middle of the key. If it was the perimetre then I would understand but it didn’t make sense to me.

“Obviously it didn’t feel good but I will be alright. Lucky for me I am going to take the day off tomorrow and get healthy but it’s the Finals so nothing is going to keep me out of it. But I am just confused why he is trying to set a screen in the middle of the key when we are both moving full speed downhill. It seemed kind of dirty to me, sticked his knee out too but that’s basketball.”

Coach Steve Kerr say’s it was Cleveland’s aggressiveness that won them the game.

“They were being very aggressive with him out on the perimetre and it didn’t matter in the first two games because other guys scored and we got lots of offence possessions and tonight obviously it did matter and we didn’t get a lot of great looks from them but we didn’t get much of anything going so they’re aggressiveness was important tonight.

“Most of the teams in the league are pretty equal in talent. As Craig Popovich used to tell me the other guys make millions of dollars a year by playing the game too. So when you get to this level everybody has got talent, whether you are in the finals or the 10th game of the season. Every team you go against has great talent.

“Every player in the NBA is a great player and if you let your guard down and the other team is angry and then you can see this kind of turnaround. It happens in every series for them, every series for us. Maybe not for them but for us it has happened and that’s just the way it goes.

Despite their loss, the Warriors still lead the series 2-1 ahead of game four on Friday.
