I’m here to stay, defiant Migne says amidst calls to exit the stage

Harambee Stars head coach Sebastien Migne says he’ll honour his contract despite being bundled out of January 2020 CHAN tournament by Tanzania on Sunday.

Kenya fell 4-1 to Tanzania on post match penalties after a barren draw win normal time at Moi International Stadium, Kasarani.

The first leg played in Dar a week ago also ended in a barren stalemate.

Stars defeat in the hands of the minnows left tongues wagging with many a Kenyan football fans calling for the immediate resignation of the beleaguered French man.

“The last think I will do is to resign, I am under contract but I think it will be difficult to pay me if they need to pay it, I am a hard worker even in difficult times and I knew it will not be easy when I signed honour for Kenya,” Migne during post match interview on Sunday.

Despite taking Kenya to the Africa up of Nations finals for the first time in 15 years, Migne’s defensive  approach to games hasn’t been pleasant to the eye, as the Stars bowed out of the Afcon at the preliminaries after falling 2-0 to Algeria and 3-0 to Senegal. They beat Taifa Stars 3-2 but it was not enough to salvage their chances.

Migne said there was no excuse for the defeat but pointed out that the unavailability of four key players due to transfers contributed to the squad being drained of their quality.

“We missed maturity in the game which is essential in football; we had some opportunities that we were unable to utilise,”

“Player transfer ruined my plans, the team lost the likes of Cliff Nyakeya, Faruk Shikalo and Kahata(Francis) who were important and would have made a difference in the match,” he lamented

Migne said it was had preparing for the matches in the past two weeks following the dents created by the players who had left including Allan Wanga of Kakamega Homeboyz who retired from international duty.

Despite the defeat, Migne pointed out that a number of players showed a reason to be in the first eleven of the future Harambee Stars senior team. He further promised to enhance the offensive department and more so to find someone able to compete with number goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.

Migne at the same time disclosed that from August 12 in Kenya as together with his family to attend a to his disabled daughter who will be in hospital, leaving the team under the care of his assistants.
