Imbalambala tops list of players axed by Vihiga United

Kenyan Premier League outfit Vihiga United has made major changes in their squad; releasing six players and acquiring four who are expected to join team by the end of the week.

Those axed include former AFC Leopards skipper Martin Imbalambala, Victor Ayugi, William Oricho, and Dennis Ligalia. Others are Jacob Atinda and Wycliffe Kabaji.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Vihiga United tactician Edward Manoah said the changes are aimed at improving the performance of the team.

Elsewhere, Nairobi Stima head coach Michael Kamure has said that his team hasn’t met its objective as envisaged at the beginning of the season, maintaining that the National Super League outfit must pull its weight to attain the target.

Stima are third on the 18-team NSL league on 34 points after 18 round of matches behind leaders Western Stima who are on 36 points and Ushuru (35).

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kamure maintained that his team’s aim is to earn one of the two automatic promotion slots.

“Our aim is to lead the log . We want to collect as many points as possible at home and see what happens next especially the second league. I understand the league is difficult and is very competitive. We have faced some good teams up until now and I expect tough games,” he said.

Stima’s next assignment is against Administration Police whom they host at the Narok Stadium on July 1.
