Impala keen to clear Kabras off their Kenya Cup way

The Resolution Impala Saracens director of Rugby Fred Ollows says they’re not looking beyond their upcoming Kenya Cup top six playoff clash against champions Kabras Sugar as he asked his charges to set their focus on the immediate task at hand.

The two sides clash on Saturday at the Impala Club, the turf on which Kabras lifted their maiden Kenya Cup clash in May last year against Impala but Ollows has warned the titleholders to expect a tough battle.

The winners of this fixture will secure an away semi-final berth against Menengai Cream Homeboyz a week later with Kenya Harlequins and Mwamba RFC locking horns in the other play-offs.

“Every match is different and this is a knockout game, we may have lost previous matches against our opponents but everything is going forward.

“The question of what kind of intensity the boys have going to this match, I think they will bring the highest intensity they have got so far than any other Kabras match they have played,” Ollows told Citizen Digital.

In their latest meeting, Kabras edged Impala 29-26 as the losers registered four tries and three conversions against Kabras’ four touch downs, three conversions and the deciding penalty.

The Sarries have made changes to the team that defeated that defeated Blaq Blad 57-18 last weekend.

“Dennis Karani will start as a prop; will also have a change in our number 10 where Neto Simiyu will play this match while Derrick Mayar will play as a left wing,” Ollows said.
