Impala to meet Quins in Ngong Road derby as Kisii bow out on a high

Defending Kenya Cup champions KCB were held to a 9-9 draw by fourth placed Impala Saracens at the Ruaraka showground on Saturday afternoon.

Darwin Mukidza and Mark Kwemoi all scored penalties for their respective sides to leave the contest even.

Elsewhere, the match between Kenya Harlequins and Nondescripts RFC was cancelled due to heavy downpour at the Jamhuri Showground. With the weather spoiling the party, both teams and match officials agreed to a draw result.

The winner between Impala and Quins will set a tense semis date with the ‘Lions’ while Homeboyz will confront the winner between Kabras and Strathmore Leos in the other semifinal.

Harlequins had already qualified for the playoffs while Nondies were honouring the game after they narrowly survived the relegation axe.

The outcome means that Quins finish fifth with 35 points while Nondies settle for 19 points in the 12 team log.

At the same time, Kabras Sugar finished third after beating Blak Blad 58-3 in their last match of the season to garner 43 points.

Kabras will meet Strathmore Leos in Kakamega next weekend as they seek to lift a maiden Kenya Cup title.

Top Fry Nakuru failed to book a spot in the playoffs after they lost their crucial game to Mwamba RFC, losing 17-10, a contest that was also dogged by poor weather conditions.

Nakuru will now shift their focus to the Mwamba Cup as they wait the pooling.

But despite their relegation, Kisii RFC bowed out of the Kenya Cup on a high note thrashing fellow related team Mombasa RFC 56-6 at the Gusii Stadium.

The two teams were relegated after one season in the top flight of the local rugby scene.
