In-form Rupia relishing chance to ‘stop’ Gor

AFC Leopards striker Elvis ‘Machapo’ Rupia has said that they expect a sweet win against bitter rivals Gor Mahia on Sunday as they seek to maintain their FKF Premier League title momentum.

Rupia who is only two goals shy of the league top scorer Eric Kapaito of Kariobangi Sharks is confident Leopards can finally end their five-year winless run against their Mashemeji derby rivals.

“As AFC Leopards we are preparing better and a derby is a good test for us at this juncture and we will be very happy to win the tie on Sunday,” Rupia said.

The former Wazito FC and Zambian side Power Dynamos goal poacher believes that teamwork will earn them bragging rights over Gor.

“Everything is God and the situation as it is we just work as one team and have that mentality of leaving the pitch the happiest side,” he added.

At the same time, Leopards head coach Antony ‘Mod’ Kimani has warned his lads not to take the match lightly just because they sit three points above their rivals.

The former Harambee Stars defender has called upon his boys to be confident and believe that they can stop the champions in the biggest showdown in the country.

“I am making sure that the boys are in good frame of mind to be able to register good results at the expense of our rivals.

I know they have the capacity and ability to beat them and play well but they must remember that it is the type of game that form or who is above who does not matter but how you hold yourself on the match day

We need to forget the three matches we have won on the trop and now focus full on that match on Sunday with optimism”, Kimani said.

Ingwe are sitting fourth on 18 points only three above arch-rivals and defending champions K’Ogalo.
