In form Zoo seek to extend NSL advantage over Sharks

In form Zoo Kericho will seek to stretch their advantage in second place from rivals Kariobangi Sharks when they take on Oserian FC in midweek National Super League (NSL) clash.

Zoo opened a four-point gap from Sharks with 63 over the weekend when they came from behind to beat relegation-threatened Ligi Ndogo 2-1 with the latter away to Nairobi Stima hoping to keep up the chase for promotion with a game in hand.

Leaders Nzoia United have already disappeared into the horizon with a commanding 16-point gap over their nearest challenger with their elevation to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) all but assured with seven games to spare.

Zoo head coach Herman Iswekha is delighted with the upturn in form that has seen his side come from a slump that had seen drop to sixth upon the start of the second leg.

“Of late we had not performed well but we thank God the boys are now psyched up. I believe they can give us good yields tomorrow (Wednesday),” he emphasised.

Iswekha maintained they were not feeling the heat as the battle for second place shifts the gears up.

“We won’t be looking at Sharks, Nakumatt or anybody else but we will focus on what we have to do.

“We don’t have a first team because all the players are professional and we give them equal opportunities so we can’t say that so and so will play or not. All our players give us 100 percent,” he added.

Zoo are seeking their fourth win on the bounce against a side placed 13th (36) who are also coming on a high having beaten St. Joseph FC 2-1 away over the weekend.

Sharks take on Stima in 10th (41) buoyed by their clinical 3-0 victory over Nakuru All Stars that improved their tally to 59 with their hosts coming away with a share of the spoils in a 0-0 stalemate at Agro Chemicals.

Nakumatt who trail Sharks by goal difference having played a game more visit 12th placed Moyas having not won in five as their promotion hopes continue receding.
