Injured Injera out of Shujaa squad for Olympics qualifiers

Kenya Sevens technical director Paul Feeney has named flanker Andrew Amonde as the captain of his charges for the 2019 Africa Sevens that will double up as the Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifiers in Johannesburg, South Africa next weekend.

Amonde was Shujaa captain during the Safari Sevens where they finished third and will be deputized by Jeffrey Oluoch and Jacob Ojee.

Shujaa will miss the services of Kenya’s HSBC top try scorer Collins Injera who is out with a shoulder injury.

Shujaa welcome back Willy Ambaka, Alvin Otieno, Bush Mwale, Billy Odhiambo and Nelson Oloo in the squad.

Others in the squad includes; the national sevens series most valuable player Vincent Onyala, winger Daniel Taabu, Johnstone Olindi and Oscar Dennis.

Kenya will follow the new format of the 2019 Africa sevens where they face Ivory Coast in the first round set to be played on November 8, and if they win they proceed to Pool B as B1.
