Invincible Gunner Sol Campbell set for SportPesa clinic

Betting firm SportPesa and English football giants Arsenal will hold their first ever training camp in Kenya later this month as part of an agreement signed in February in London to partner developing the game in the county.

Retired Invincible title-winning defensive rock, Sol Campbell will be among the party that will be in the country from May 23 to 28 ay Nairobi’s Kenya School of Monetary Studies.

Dubbed Arsenal Football Training Camp, hashtag #JengaGame, the Camp will involve a team of three Arsenal coaches namely; Paul Drew Tyler, Mohammed Moaz Awadelkarim and Rupen Shah.

They will be joined by 60 certified local coaches.

“This is in line with our sole purpose of improving and developing the football standard in Kenya, with the main objectives of the Training Camp being to give international coaching to Kenyan coaches and sharpen their skills,” said Esther Kang’ethe, the Marketing and Communication Director, SportPesa.

“We also aim to develop a local football curriculum based on the Arsenal academy program for our coaches,” she added.

The 60 local coaches will be drawn from the 16 KPL under 19 championships, while the other 44 will be from the grassroots football clubs across Nairobi, Coast, Nyanza, Western, Eastern, Rift Valley, Central and North Eastern.

The coaches will also be trained on scouting Arsenal Kenya SportPesa talent team, how to conduct holiday camps to select players for future training camps.

However monthly evaluation of the coaches will be conducted by appointed talent Management Company and Finally the coaches will be providing monthly reports on the progress of the players selected.
