Itigo to face Wiyeta in Rift Chapa Dimba finals

It will be an all secondary school affair in the girls’ Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Rift finals as Itigo Girls take on Wiyeta Girls on Sunday at the Kericho Green Stadium.

The pair registered huge wins in their respective semifinals on Saturday as Itigo from Nandi hammered Achievers of Kajiado 6-0 as Wiyeta clobbered Bomet Queens 17-0.

After reaching the regional finals last season only to be eliminated by eventual national winners Kitale Queens, Itigo head coach Emmanuel Kipruto said there is no room for error this time as they not only seek regional glory but also the national title.

“We have only come here to win the title and nothing else. My players are still angered on the way we were eliminated in last year’s finals. We do not fear anyone who we face tomorrow in the finals,” Kipruto told Citizen Digital.

At the same time, Kipruto showered praise to her two forwards Marion Wafula and Claudio Kadenge who scored all the goals of the match with Wafula scoring four as Kadenge grabbed a brace.

“My forwards have trained together for long and that is why they have a very good understanding between them,” said Kipruto.

On his part, Wiyeta Girls head coach Edgar Manyara has declared war on his opponents, vowing that his free-scoring team will not relent in their quest to become the region’s champions.

“We thank God for the huge victory. My girls found many goal scoring opportunities and they did not utilize them. I Know it is going to be a bit defensive but altogether we are only going for the win,” said Manyara.

In the first boys’ semifinals, Laiser Hill Academy of Kajiado edged Tumkas of Uasin Gishu and will face either former champions Kapenguria Heroes or White Rhinos of Trans Mara who are set to clash in another semi final match.
