Jaguars eye back to back wins in grueling weekend
Western Jaguars face back to back Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Men Premier League matches over the weekend in what will serve as a true test to their title credentials.
The team’s level of fitness will be on full display as head coach Michael Malungu prepares his men for clashes against Sikh Union Nairobi and United States International University (USIU).
Malungu’s men will play Sikh on Saturday at City Park before tackling USIU at the same venue a day later with organizers keen to clear the team’s fixtures backlog.
The Jaguars men brought Kenya Police back earth last weekend when they snapped their –match unbeaten streak with a shock 1-0 win and Malungu is desperate to see his charges build on that motivating victory.
“It was a great win but it’s important that my boys don’t remove their feet off the gas pedal. We have to continue with this kind of performance because we’re not yet safe from relegation.
“Right now every match is crucial and the target is to win at least five matches,” Malungu told Citizen Digital.
Jaguars are placed 13th on the 15-team KHU men’s log with 21 points, one ahead of Kenyatta University Vultures and 14 ahead of Technical University of Kenya who are at the bottom end.
In the women’s league USIU will look to cut the gap between them and leaders Telkom Kenya when they tackle fourth-placed Strathmore University.
