Jersey side exits league over not finding a manager

Channel Islands football club Jersey Scottish have taken the drastic step of withdrawing from the island’s Premiership for next season after failing to find a manager.

Scottish, who won the last of their 13 Jersey league titles four years ago, have been unable to replace manager Pat Brennan who retired after helping the team to third last season.

“Despite numerous attempts to try to find a new manager, those attempts have proved fruitless,” club secretary Craig Fletcher told BBC Radio Jersey.

The club will still operate an Over-35 team next season and have not given up hope of returning to the Premiership for the 2018/19 campaign.

“As a former player I’m devastated and there were a lot of very sad faces when we reached the decision,” Fletcher told the Jersey Evening Post.
