Jose Mourinho agrees to replace van Gaal at Manchester United

Embattled Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has agreed to take over at Manchester United when Louis van Gaal’s contract expires, reports Express.co.uk.

The Blues’ chief has come under razor-sharp criticism for his side’s disastrous start to the season.

While he may be given a stay of execution, it is understood Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is becoming increasingly impatient.

However, even if the Special One was to be sacked, his future might still remain in English football.

Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb claim there is an agreement for the Portuguese to take the reins at Old Trafford when Van Gaal’s contract expires at the end of the 2016/2017 season.

It would be remembered Jose Mourinho was considered as a potential successor to Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 but the hopes of landing him were dashed after he decided to move to Stamford Bridge for a second spell.

That spell is now in danger of coming to a premature end. Nevertheless, United are unlikely to be put off by the Blues boss’ recent struggles.

While Mourinho has been unable to reproduce last season’s title-winning form, he remains comfortably Chelsea’s most successful ever manager.

And with three Premier League crowns, an FA Cup, three League Cups and two Champions League titles to his name, Mourinho could be seen as the perfect replacement for Van Gaal.
