Jose Mourinho preparing for Chelsea exit with eyes on new clubs

Representatives of Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho are weighing options on the Portuguese’s next move if he is sacked bu Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

The representatives are said to have held talks with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain as the possible homes for the embattled manager, according to The Independent.

Reports indicate that Chelsea management is already lining up Mourinho’s replacement with Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, and Real Madrid boss top on the list.

Sacking Mourinho may however prove costly for Chelsea as they would be required to pay him more than £30 million, to settle his four-year contract.

Despite the pressure currently facing Mourinho, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to be reluctant to sack the Portuguese and willing to give him more time to deliver, thus dispelling recent claims that a defeat to Liverpool on Saturday may be the final straw on his tenure at Stamford Bridge.

Intermediaries of Mourinho and PSG are understood to be in contact in preparation for life after Chelsea and a possible move to Parc des Princes.

It will be keen to watch if Mourinho’s move to the Lauren Blanc-coached side would affect their interest in Real Madrid star Christiano Ronaldo, owing to his strained relations with Mourinho during his time as manager at Santiago Bernabeu.

Inter Milan have also been seen as a possible home for Mourinho with the move taking him back to the club where he is still adored having won the 2009-10 treble of Serie A, Italian Cup and Champions League.

The current speculations are not new as Mourinho made similar ‘noises’ in 2012-13 season when he realised that his time at Real Madrid was over.

Several Chelsea players have however voiced their support for Mourinho despite the tumultuous season.

John Terry, Cesc Fabregas, Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta and Diego Costa have come out to stand with the embattled manager who has also been charged by FA over gross misconduct following his dismissal against West Ham.

Mourinho, who is appealing against a 50,000 fine and one-match suspension imposed for his comments about officials after his loss to Southampton early this month, could face further charges after he was sent off by referee last weekend.

Stoke manager Mark Hughes has also voiced his support for Mourinho, saying Chelsea owner Abramovich would be making a mistake if he sacked him.

Mourinho has largely been in a bad mood since the 2-2 home draw with Swansea on the opening day of the season, turning his fire on club medics Eva Carneiro and Jon Fearn for ‘unwarranted’ entry into the filed to treat Eden Hazard. Carneiro has since left the club.

Chelsea have endured their worst-ever start to a Premier League season, in 15th place with five defeats in ten matches.

Mourinho has won three Premier League titles in two spells at Chelsea.
