Kabras crowned National Sevens Circuit champs
Kakamega based side Kabras Sugar on Sunday claimed the National Sevens Circuit overall crown at the Mamboleo Showground in Kisumu .
This is after the sugar millers secured a sweet savoured 19-7 victory over Blak Blad in the third place playoff.
This was the first National Sevens Circuit title Kabras has won since the club was formed.
Menengai Cream Homeboyz on the hand retained the Dala 7s title with a 12-10 win over Prinsloo champions KCB RFC in an exciting grand finale in the lakeside city.
The win drove Homeboyz to second on the final standing with 100 points while KCB finished fourth with 87 points.
Heading to the Dala Sevens, three teams were in contention of the overall crown, and from the performances, no team was willing to let go.
All the top three Impala, Homeboyz and Kabras secured a spot at the quarter’s bonanza.
At the quarters, Impala Saracens who were placed second fell out to Blak Blad, leaving only Kabras and Homeboyz salivating for the title.
On their way to winning the overall crown, Kabras scooped the Sepetuka Sevens, Christies Sevens and third position at the Kabeberi Sevens.
Impala would later water down their shock defeat to Blak Blad by securing a 17-12 win against Western Bulls to lift the Challenge trophy.
