Kabras Sugar tightened their grip on the Kenya Cup top spot as they hammered Nondiescripts 45-6 at the Bull Ring in Kakamega on Saturday.

Champions KCB RFC kept pace with leaders after a convincing 43-13 victory over Menengai Oilers at the Lion’s Den in Ruaraka.

That loss for Oilers allowed Mwamba RFC to climb into fourth on the Kenya Cup standings following their 15-11 win against Impala Saracens at the same venue.

At Jamhuri Grounds, Kenya Harlequins notched their second win in a row after seeing off Top Fry Nakuru 33-12 while Western Bulls suffered a 56-6 demolition at the hands of Homeboyz RFC.

In Kakamega, Lawrence Bukachi bagged the opening try for the hosts five minutes into the game and Ntabeni Dukisa converted for a 7-0 lead.

Nondies had the opportunity to reduce their deficit when they were awarded a penalty only for Biko Adema to send it wide.

A well worked team effort involving Sinaite Timoci and Dukisa freed Charlton Mokua to bag Kabras’ second try and Dukisa was on hand once again to convert and hand his side a 14-0 advantage.

Nondies got another penalty and this time round Adema dispatched it yet Kabras wheeled away again, adding two tries courtesy of Brian Tanga and Paul Abuto. Dukisa clinically converted both as Henly du Plessis men took a 28-6 lead into the break.

Ten minutes into the second half, Adema scored from the spot to give the away team three more points. After sustaining some pressure from Nondies, Kabras pushed back and added four more tries through George Nyambua, Asuman Mugerwa, and Jone Kubu, and Felix Ayange but only converted half of those.
