Kabras tighten grip on Kenya Cup lead

Kabras Sugar scored nine tries converting seven to whitewash Kisumu RFC 59-13 at the Mamboleo ground, Kisumu on match round 12.

After getting a bonus point Henley Du Plessis charges tops the league with 55 points a point ahead of KCB RFC who also defeated Western Bulls 24-08 at the Bull ring Kakamega.

Winger Brian Tanga and Kevin Keegan both scored each a brace with Fijian Jone Kobu, Zimbabwean Royal Mwale, Walter Okoth, Alfred Orege and Asuman Mugerrwa adding one try each for Kabras while Denver Audo pulled one converted try for the home side, Steven Obadia and Oscar Othoje both scoring penalties for Kisumu.

Kisumu started on high getting the first points through a penalty by Oscar Othoje in the second minute to make it 3-0.

Othoje got another penalty near the post but missed it for the home side.

Kabras Sugar got their first counter attack winger Brian Tanga side stepping Kisumu RFC defenders but was fouled giving the visitors a scrum in the 14th minute.

The scrum resulted to their first try in the 16th minute though Alfred Orege after he received a pass from Charlton Mokua with South African Mtabeni Dukisa converting it to give Kabras a 07-03 lead.

Former Shujaa winger Brian Tanga ran with the ball from Kisumu RFC defense line, side stepping their opponents playing a one two play with Fijian Jone Kobu, Tanga scoring Kabras second try with Dukisa converting it to make it 14-03 in the 26 th minute.

New Kabras signing from Zimbabwe Royal Mwale scored his sides third try after a successful maul, Dukisa doing what he loves best adding the extras to make it 21-03 in the 34th minute.

Tanga ensured his side got a bonus point after scoring a solo try seven meters from inside the posts Dukisa converting it to make it 28-03 at halftime.

The visitors started the second half at high Walter Okoth scoring Kabras fifth try after Kabras played a well worked line out, Dukisa missing the extras to make it 33-05 in the 46th minute.

Kisumu Steven Obadia missed a penalty in the 50th minute stalling the scores 33-05.

Kabras Home Kobu written his name in the scoring board with his first try and sixth for his side missing the conversion to make it 38-03.

Kisumu RFC scored their first try in the 57th minutes through Denver Audo after a well played scrum, Obadiah adding the extras to make it 38-10.

Substitute Kevin Keegan scored the seventh try for Kabras, Kobu adding the extras to make it 45-10 while Asuman Mugerrwa bullish attack gifted Kabras their eighth try, Kobu converting it to make it 52-10 in the 68th minute.

Steven Obadiah scored a second penalty for Kisumu RFC bringing the score to 13-52 in the 70th minute.

Kevin Keegan scored his brace in the 72nd minute with a solo try with Kobu conversion going in to make it 59-13 at full time.
