Kabras wallop helpless Bulls as Impala emerge top in derby

Kabras Sugar demolished Western Bulls 47-00 to get a bonus point in the Kenya Cup match round seven played at the Bull Ring ground in Kakamega on Saturday.

South Africa’s Henry Du Plessis got the bragging rights of the western derby as Kabras scored seven tries converting six against Solomon Obiero charges who were unable to score even a single try.

South Africa’s Dukisa Mtabeni scored two tries while Fijian Timoci Sinaite, Eugene Sifuna, William Diffu and Hillary Mwajilwa scored a try each for last year’s runners up.

Kabras’ Eugene Sifuna got the ball from the line out squeezing himself through Bull’s defence to score the first try of the match with Kevin Keegan converting it for a 7-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Fijian Timoci Sinaite stole the ball in the 22 metres line running all the way under the posts to score Kabras second try with Keegan converting it to make it 14-00.

Keegan got a successful run after a maul in the 30 minutes but South Africa’s Dukisa Mtabeni found himself offside the rack giving away the ball to their opponents.

Kabras flanker William Diffu won the ball after a one-two play from Sifuna, Dukisa scoring the third try for Kabras, Dukisa converting it to make it 21-00 at halftime.

Hillary Mwajilwa started on high for the home side at the second half scoring the fourth try after a well played maul from his side; Dukisa doing what he loves most converting it to make it 28-00; giving the home team a bonus point.

Husman Mugerwa and Ephraim Oduor came in for Joseph Odero and Hillary Mwajilwa in the 53rd minute giving Kabras more energy.

Second row Brian Juma gave Kabras the fifth try in the 62rd minute after winning the ball in the line out with Dukisa missing the extras to make it 33-00.

Kenya international Brian Tanga came in for Barry Robinson to bring in more aggression and pace for Kabras.

Bulls Collins Ogutu was sin-binned in the 67th minute after a bad foul giving Kabras a scrum that resulted to Kabras sixth try this time Dukisa scoring his first try of the match Keegan adding the extras to make it 40-00.

Dukisa scored Kabras seventh try and his second of the game after a defensive blunder from Bull’s defence with Tanga converting it to make it 47-00 at full time.

Elsewhere, Resolution Impala Saracens got the bragging rights of the Ngong road derby winning 27- 19 against Kenya Harlequins while KCB RFC were victorious 29-15 against Stanbic Mwamba.

Nondescripts came out of relaxation zone after they defeated Top Fry Nakuru 31-22 while Menengai Oilers won away 25-15 against varsity side Blak Blad.

Kisumu RFC continued with their poor run of performance after they were whitewashed 53-3 by Menengai Cream Homeboyz.
