Kagere at the double as Gor set up Simba final

Meddie Kagere’s brace fired Gor Mahia FC to a 2-0 win over Singida United as the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants set up a mouthwatering final against Tanzanian champions Simba SC.

The odds were heavily skewed in favour of Gor and even the wet conditions at Afraha Stadium did little to make life difficult for the champions as they quickly imposed themselves on Singida.

Coach Dylan Kerr had named a strong line-up with Kagere leading the attack and it only took the striker 36 minutes to put his side into the lead, guiding Francis Kahata’s corner into the back of the net.

The Ugandan-born Rwandese then scored his second for the evening – and third for the tournament – in stoppage time to book a dream final date with Simba, who had earlier defeated Kakamega Homeboyz 5-4 on post-match penalties.
