Kagere, Tuyisenge aim to start banging in the goals

Striking duo, Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge believe it is only a matter of time before their partnership clicks to fire Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions, Gor Mahia, to their fourth successful crown as the competition resumes this weekend.

The former and current Rwanda captains have failed to impress in front of goal since Kagere re-joined the club mid-season with the forward who came off the bench to score during their GOTv Shield round of 32 clash against Nairobi Stima saying they were disturbed by claims they are not giving enough.

“I don’t understand why people only think about the two of us. At the end of the day, only team spirit can make us succeed. I cannot score if I am not fed well from the defence and the midfield. We must work together as a team in order to win,” Kagere told Ramogi FM.

He was quick to admit that the half season he spent in the cold could be a contributing factor to his slow start.

“You know I have been away for six months and I still lack fitness. We have just played a few matches and we need not be judged this early. We have not played twenty matches together and it is just a matter of time before we impress,” Kagere added.

K’Ogalo record signing Tuyisenge said they do not have a problem in partnering upfront with Kagere noting they have been playing together back home for Rwandese national team.

“It is only a matter of time before we catch up.  Every game has a different approach depending on who you are playing because most Kenyan teams are so cautious when playing Gor Mahia and sometimes  resort to disruptive tactics to disorganize our game,” the team’s top scorer observed.

“Our fans need to be patient with us since we are players from different countries and with time we shall be charging like provoked bulls,” he urged.

The last time Tuyisenge scored for K’Ogalo was on July 3 at the Thika Municipal stadium when they beat Thika United 2-1 in the KPL.

Gor are away to Sony Sugar in the KPL on Wednesday seeking to craw the three-point difference with leaders Tusker FC at the summit of the log where they sit second on 34.
