Kahata: Deal with Simba is 95 percent done

Harambee Stars midfielder Francis Nyambura Kahata says his move to Simba is close but admits he hasn’t penned a deal yet.

According to Kahata, talks are 95 percent done and he will soon pen a deal.

Reports in the Tanzanian press claimed that the mercurial play-maker had signed between the dotted lines but speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital in Cairo, Kahata scoffed at the claims.

The former Thika United man is a free-agent having run down his contract with Kenya’s glamour club Gor Mahia, and he’s already looking forward to a new adventure, a new phase of his career in the Tanzanian capital, with Simba SC, that will see him link up with his former team mate at K’Ogalo, Meddie Kagere.

“I haven’t signed yet but the negotiations are progressing well. We are 95 percent done and I’m waiting to pen the deal,” he said. “It’s a joy(to play with Meddie Kagere). I played with him at Gor and he’s a good striker and I think playing with him at Simba will be a motivating factor.”

Kahata has had a tournament to forget at the AFCON getting substituted in Harambee Stars 2-0 defeat to Algeria in the first match and not featuring in the 3-0 defeat to Senegal yesterday.

He however maintains he’s gathered vital experience from the showpiece.

“The experience has been invaluable, we’ve been away for 15 years and we hope we have learnt a few vital skills and we hope to make an appearance again,” he said shortly after the team was hosted to a luncheon in River Nile in Cairo Tuesday.
