Kameta challenges President Uhuru to box him

Boxing Association of Kenya (BAK) chairman, John Kameta has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to a bout in the catch weight category as the main card to his planned Rumble in the City boxing exhibition extravaganza.

The event will parade Kenya’s best boxers curtain-raise for a host of prominent personalities in the country including Governors, Senators, CEO’S, business people, musicians and others taking on opponents of their choice in an initiative that hopes Ksh200m.

Three UK based boxers could travel for the rumble that has penned newly-wed Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore and Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko among its biggest attractions with money raised being used towards  developing training centers across the country.

The boxing boss promised two or three percent of the cash will be donated to the disabled.

“The federation will develop 20 elite boxing training centers to serve as talent identification and nurturing springs. These centers will focus on working with children between the ages of 10 to 15 years,” said Kameta.

“BAK is already in discussion with partners on provision of state of the art facilities for the centers and will engage County Governments to provide the space for building new infrastructure,” he added.

The event is slated for May with State House given mandate to set actual dates and details of the tournament, subject to confirmation by the Office of the President.

Kameta was addressing a press conference on Monday in Nairobi.
