Kanyi hails debutants impressive show as Uganda test lurks

After walloping Zambia 3-0 in a friendly match at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Zambia, Harambee Starlets coach Richard Kanyi says he’s impressed by his side’s performance especially the new faces in the team who got their debut against Zambia.

Pauline Musungu, Wincate Kaari and Cynthia Shilwatso made their debuts against Shepolopolo and Kanyi said he is impressed by their thrilling performance.

Kanyi added that he’ll continue to give a chance to young stars in the senior team to showcase their ability.

“We have been impressed by this performance and I believe it will give us the morale to face Uganda,” he said, alluding to the forthcoming AFWCON qualifier test against the Crested Cranes.

He added: “I am glad to see the three youngsters who have made their debut and we shall continue to blend young players with the experienced ones in the forthcoming matches.”

Kanyi said he is optimistic his ladies will perform well in the qualifier against the Ugandans and threw the ball to FKF; calling for more international matches so give the team exposure and a platform to bench mark ahead of the upcoming assignments

Starlets embark on their training regime tomorrow at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos ahead of the April 4 duel with the Crested Cranes before travelling to Kampala three days later for the return leg as they seek a slot in the Africa Women Cup of Nations slated for November 17 – December 1 in Ghana.
