Kotoko, the two-time African champions, responded by threatening on the other end when Emmanuel Gyamfi beat his man with a drop of a shoulder and whipped in a cross for Naby Keita but the striker’s headed effort flew wide.

It was end to end stuff and Sharks were back knocking on Annan’s goalmouth, with Vincent Wasambo firing straight at him after Harrison Mwendwa had an earlier effort blocked by the visiting defence.

Sharks winger Duke Abuya then raced to the byline and had enough time to look up and pick out his man but there were too many red jerseys in the six yard area and the his low cross was hacked away.

Defender Geoffrey Lemu then produced a superb tackle to prevent substitute Songne Yacouba from running through on goal as Kotoko sought for a late winner.

Sharks winger James Mazembe was substituted off in the 65th minute after a dismal performance and his replacement Henry almost made immediate impact.

Abuya chested the ball down for him after a cross from Thomas Teka but Juma rushed his shot and got has too much height as it flew off target.

On the other end, Maxwell Baakoh delivered a sweet cross after some beautiful midfield play but Sharks defender Nixon Omondi was first to it to and intercepted the danger.

Jordan Opoku goes for the chip from but his ball can only dip onto the roof of goalkeeper Brian Bwire’s post as the two sides settled for a barren draw.
