The IOC Athletes’ Commission comprises members elected by athletes to represent them in the Olympic Movement. Through them, the views of the athletes are represented and resources to assist athletes are shared.

Four slots will be filled at the Tokyo 2020 election to replace outgoing Commission members whose terms expire then with the successful candidates serving an eight-year term. The Chairperson, Kirsty Coventry from Zimbabwe is one of the members leaving the Commission.

The elections will open from July 14 to August 4 with all the accredited athletes who will be competing at the Summer Games eligible to vote.

The Olympic Agenda 2020’s mission is to ensure athletes are at the heart of the Olympic Movement. The IOC Athletes’ Commission, therefore, has a leading role in the Olympic Movement as it serves as the link between Athletes and IOC.

The campaigns start immediately and candidates will be able to promote their candidature to fellow athletes.
