The Kenya Basketball Federation has added Australian Liz Mills to its technical bench as officials step up preparations for the Afrobasket qualifiers last round set for later this month.
KBF fixture secretary Joseph Amoko says Mills will help Morans develop a better understanding of the game and will handle the team’s videography among others.
Cliff Owuor and Sadat Gaya are still the head coach and assistant head coach respectively.
Gaya told Citizen Digital training is going on well as they are only waiting for three foreign-based players who are yet to arrive in camp.
“Training is going on well, team fitness and morale in the camp is so amazing we are just waiting for the remaining foreign-based who are Preston Bungei, Tylor Ongwae, Joel Awich and Ronie Gundo,” he said.
Other foreign based players Desmond Owili and Ariel Okal have been in the country since their last national duty while Bush Wamukota arrived in the country a week ago.
The team has intensified the training now having two sessions in the morning and in the evening daily.
The Morans have one foot in the Afrobasket Finals scheduled to take place in March this year in Kigali and will be playing the last round of qualifiers from 21st February 2021 against Mozambique, Angola and Senegal in Cameroon from 19th to 21st February 2021.
Kenya defeated Mozambique 79-62 during the first leg of qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda last year and is hoping to return to the continent’s biggest bonanza for the first time in 28 years.
