KBF players, officials vaccinated against Covid-19

The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) in conjunction with the Ministry of Sports have on Monday vaccinated players and officials against Covid-19, with the Nairobi based clubs benefiting from the exercise held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

The exercise which continues on Tuesday targets about 400 sports persons according to KBF Secretary General Ambrose Kisoi.

“We have a session today and tomorrow at Kasarani for Nairobi based teams in the Premier League top tier; both men and women,” he said.

Kisoi further says they are in talks with other county governments to facilitate vaccination of the players whose clubs are based outside Nairobi.

“After finishing this, we will write to the Ministry of Sports to talk to the Ministry of Health to give authority to county governments’ facilities to vaccinate players and officials since they can’t move to Nairobi due to lockdown,” he added.

President Uhuru Kenyatta last month announced the suspension of Sports in a move he said was aimed at taming the rising Covid-19 cases.

Stakeholders have been loud in calling for the lifting of the ban on Sports, and it is anticipated the government could review the measures in the next few weeks.
