KCB bite Kariobangi Sharks, Stima lose chance

A first half brace from Job Omuse was all that KCB FC needed to put a stop to Kariobangi Sharks perfect start in the National Super League (NSL) as Nairobi Stima lost an opportunity to go top after drawing 2-2 with Moyas FC on Saturday.

Sharks who have dominated news in the past week with two of their players, Patilah Omoto and Ovella Ochieng, included in the national team Harambee Stars 2017 AFCON qualifier away to Guinea Bissau dominated the match that head coach Mike Amenga feels the better side lost.

Omuse gave the visitors who were demoted from the SportsPesa Premier League last season the lead just six minutes after the first whistle before adding the second in the 22nd, to pile pressure on the hosts who kept attacking without any goal coming.

Boniface Akenga, Elli Asieche and Dennis Ng’ang’a will blame themselves for wasting chances for Sharks who won their opening two games in the first half that would have significantly changed the result.

Geoffrey Shiveka scored from the spot two minutes from stoppage time to grab a consolation for Sharks.

In another match, Moyas came from behind twice to force a draw with unbeaten Stima at home.

Hansel Ochieng put the power men into the lead just two minutes after the start before Moyas levelled just before the break.

Talismanic Emmanuel Tostao got on the score-sheet in the 61st to put Stima ahead again.

It appeared Yusuf Chippo’s boys were taking home all three points until five minutes to the final whistle when a lapse in concentration awarded hardworking Moyas a point.

Speaking to Citizen Digital after the match, Chippo expressed his confidence that his boys will finish among the top if not at the top, while acknowledging competition in the league has heightened this season.

The league continues Sunday with six matches on card, all kicking off at 2pm.
