KCB, City Stars cruise to FKF Cup round of 16

Premier League sides KCB and Nairobi City Stars are through to FKF Cup round of 16 after winning their respective matches on Tuesday.

Nairobi City Stars picked a hard-fought 1-0 win against Fortune Sacco in Kianyagi grounds to sail through while KCB thumped Transfoc 2-0.

City, also known as Simba wa Nairobi had their  goal in the 25th minute after Ezekiel Odera controlled a well taken free kick which bounced past the goalkeeper into the net.

City Stars will have a tougher battle in the next round at the weekend, away, against the winner between Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars.

In Nairobi, KCB sailed through after thrashing Transfoc 2-0 at GEMS Cambridge grounds. At the same venue Sigalagala TTI also registered a 4-3 victory against Kajiado North in a mouth-watering match.

In Malindi, Progressive United who are in their debut season in the Cup were knocked out after losing by a solitary goal against Division One side Luanda Villa.

A 75th goal by Olilo Martin was all that the visitors needed to cruise to the round of 16 where they will now face the winner between Marafiki and FKF-PL leaders Tusker FC over the weekend.

Elsewhere in Sudi grounds in Bungoma, Nation FC were kicked out of the tourney by Bungoma Superstars losing 3-0.

A brace from Carlos Waswa and another by Mathews Ojuruta were enough to power Bungoma Superstars FC into the last 16 where they will tackle the winner between AFC Leopards and Posta Rangers.

Meanwhile, Vegpro, Equity and Mara Sugar also cruised through.
