KCB Coach Olago wary of Kabras in Kenya Cup finals

The KCB RFC Coach Curtis Olago expects a tough contest when his side locks horns with defending champions Kabras Sugar RFC during Saturday’s Kenya Cup finals.

The two clubs will converge at the KCB Sports Club for what promises to be a bloodbath with KCB playing hosts by virtue of finishing above their opponents in the regular league standings.

The match kicks off at 4.00pm; tickets will be sold at the gate retailing at the cost of Ksh 400.

KCB won 19-12 against Kenya Harlequins in the semi finals with Moses Amusala scoring the only try and Darwin Mukidza adding the conversion and four penalties while David Ambunya scored four penalties for the Quins.

Having played in the semi final match against Quins during a rainy day, Curtis believes that they can play under any weather condition.

“If it rains during the match it will be part of it, if it will be sunny it will be part of the match also so anything goes everything goes.” Said Olago.

The finals will be a repeat of the 2014/15 final that saw KCB beat Kabras 24-3 being the first time for Kabras to appear in the Kenya Cup final.

“It’s a final match so it doesn’t matter whether you are the defending champions or you have won the cup 10 times it’s a different ball game and a different day.” Concluded Curtis.

Defending champions Kabras reached the final with a 22-17 win over Menengai Cream Homeboyz, Hillary Mwanjilwa, Malik Habil, Macharia Perminus and Johnstone Mungao scoring for Kabras with Jone Kubu converting one while Leonard Mugaisi and Emmanuel Mavala touched down for the Deejayz. Kelvin Masai converted two tries and sent in one penalty.

Constant Cap will be the man in charge of Saturday’s Kenya Cup final between KCB and defending champions Kabras Sugar at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka.

His Assistant Referees on the day will be Victor Oduor and Moses Ndung’u while Gregory Sang is the Television Match Official.
