KCB dominate as KRU names Simbas squad for upcoming fixtures

The Kenya fifteens team popularly known as Simbas has released a squad of 18 players who are expected to report to camp this week ahead of their tough and busy calendar.

Defending champions KCB, however, dominate the squad with eight players while Impala Saracens has four.

KCB’s Darwin Mukidza top the list that also has Curtis Lilako, Martin Owila, Michael Wanjala, Jacob Ojee, Peter Kilonzo, Oscar Simiyu and Davis Chenge (all KCB).

Impala’s quartet Dennis Karani, Samson Onsomu, Nato Simiyu, Leo Seje, and Alex Olaba, will also be out to impress.

According to KRU, more call-ups are expected in the coming days; with the 18 players selected set to fight it out to nail slots for the fixtures.

The union has, however, failed to name the successor of the former head coach; South African Jerome Paarwaters. Speculation has been rife that KRU could unveil the new boss soon.

The Kenya Simbas will kick off their campaign with an away trip to North Africa where they’ll face Morocco on June 30.

After that, Kenya will play host to a lowly Zimbabwe who will be aiming to pull an upset. This contest will be followed

by a one-week break before the Simbas battle rivals and neighbours Uganda, in Nairobi, in July. This fixture will be closely followed by a potential cracking match against Tunisia in Nairobi, in August 2018.

The Simbas will then conclude their qualifiers with an away trip to Windhoek to face big boys Namibia.
