KCB to meet Impala in Floodies final

KCB overcame rivals Homeboyz 18-16 in a closely fought semi-final at the Impala grounds on Saturday night to book a ticket to the finals of the Impala Floodlights.

The Lion will now meet hosts Impala Saracens who also booked a slot to this year’s final after securing a 20-10 win over university side, Mean Machine in an enticing match.

Kennedy Moseti booted for the ‘Lions’ in the closing minutes to secure the all-important slot.

Former Kenya Simba captain Brian Nyikuli went over the whitewash on his debut for KCB before Mohammed Omolo slotted in a penalty from close range for a 16-15 before the half in favor of the Deejays.

The small but mighty Kennedy Moseti would seal the victory for KCB with a clean drop goal to secure an 18-16 win.

Meanwhile, both Impala and Mean Machine found the going tough and struggled to find the breakthrough in a shaky opening half but after endless pressure, Impala drew first blood, going over the whitewash for a converted try.

Mark Kwemoi’s well taken drop-goal sealed the win for the hosts to book a final with KCB who thrashed Homeboyz 18-16 in the late kick off.

At the same time, Menengai Oilers are a step away from defending their Floodies Universities title after going through to the final on Saturday, at the Impala Club.

Oilers shattered TUK dreams with a 29-3 win in the semis to set up a final meeting with either Catholic Monks or Blak Blad who square out in the second semi.

Oilers managed two tries courtesy of Dan Abuonji and Ben Juma, one penalty try, two conversions and a penalty against TUK’s single penalty.

Kenya Harlequins secured a plate final after a 43-19 whipping of Kisii RFC.

The Ngong Road side was not so lucky though after veteran forward Joseph Kangethe was sin binned for a dangerous tackle.

With the win, Kenya Harlequins sailed through to the Plate finals at the expense of their rivals, and will battle it out with campus boys Strathmore Leos to be held at the Impala Club this Saturday.
