KCBs Amonde dedicates Kenya Cup title victory to teammate Aguko

Former Kenya sevens captain Adrew Amonde has dedicated his seventh Kenya Cup title to team mate Rockie Aguko who broke his leg in the Kenya Cup final against Kabras played at the Nandi Bears this afternoon.

Aguko broke his leg after nasty tackle from George Nyambua late into the first half that forced the game to be stopped for almost one hour due to unavailability of proper medical equipment with the Nandi County ambulance service providers.

KCB successfully defended their title with a sudden death penalty by Darwin Mukiza having fought back in the second half trailing Kabras 20 -0 at halftime to win 28-25 and Amonde attributes that to togetherness in the team and the experience of playing in the finals.

“We had to win it for our colleague who broke his leg while fighting for our team, he was a key member of the team and his contribution will lagerly be missed by the team .

“We never panicked even while we were trailing we knew the experience of playing in the finals and we remained calm even under pressure from our opponents we have show the quality we have to keep dominating the competition,”Said Amonde

Kabras sugar captain Dan Sikuta has rued the missed chance in the game but believes in the good project at the club

“We have a nice project that is maturing very well and soon we will win many title ist just to believe in the process and keep working hard in future,” Sikuta stated.

His sentiments were echoed by the head coach Dominique Habimana,

“We have a very talented group of players who are working hard every time to improve. This was a final against a very experienced side and we have learned our lesson that we will use to improve our performance in future ,”insisted the veteran tactician .

For the KCB head coach Curtus Olago he says its down to proper support from the teams sponsors who have brought stability in the team

“Our hard work on the field is down to good support from our sponsors who have been with us in the trying moments during the pandemic and the best way to reward them is by winning titles,” Olago said.
