Kenya crush USA to keep Kabaddi World Cup semi hopes alive

Kenya pulverized USA 74-19 in their final Pool B game of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup on Tuesday in Ahmadabad, India to leave their semi final qualification hinging on a Japanese victory over Thailand when group action wraps on Wednesday.

Following the crushing 55 point victory, Kenya who jumped to second on 16 points will hope that Japan (11) who are fifth in the group beat third placed Thailand (15) by less than a 33-point margin to qualify for the semis as pool runners-up behind leaders Iran (20) who have won all four of their fixtures.

Kenya have a score difference of 45 compared to Japan’s 12 having won three and lost two of their group phase encounters.

Captain, David Mosambayi then returned with two extra crucial points from a do-or-die raid to inflict another all out on USA in quick five minutes with a superb display of teamwork.

The Kenyans continued dominating their opponents, vying another all out of the game, taking a massive 38-8 lead at the half way mark.

The Kenyans then reduced their opponents to one man on the mat as Chrispine Oketch scored the first point of the second half before inflicting a fourth all out as did brilliantly Patrick Muvai to evade Dillyon Bank’s tackle and stretch the lead to 43-9.

Mosambayi completed his Super 10 while Phelix Opana and James Obilo scored 7 and 5 points respectively as USA’s Ben Marcelus topped the points scoring charts for the match with four.

The Americans then saw a late counter by the Americans but in vain as Kenya with opened up a massive lead of 58-17.

USA kept fighting back but were unable to cope up with the intensity of the Kenyans who still racking up another four points from a super tackle to takes their lead to 62-17.
