Kenya draw Rwanda in AfroBasket Zone Five semis

Kenya’s women basketball team ‘Lionesses’ have drawn hosts Rwanda in the 2021 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Qualifiers Zone Five semis match set for Friday.

The two sides met at the group stage with Kenya losing 45 -77 hence will be seeking amends in this must win tie with a ticket to the final set for Saturday, on the cards.

The other semi-final will see red-hot Egypt tackle new comers South Sudan from 4pm before Kenya strut to the Kigali Arena court from 7pm in what is expected to be a battle of nerves.

Egypt topped the preliminary stage with six points, winning all their three matches while Rwanda who won two matches finished second with five points.

Kenya came third after winning one match against South Sudan while the South Sudanese girls lost all their matches, finishing fourth with three points.

Kenya started sluggishly falling 45-77 to Rwanda before defeating South Sudan 66-48 in their second game and later losing painfully 106-107 to the experienced Egyptians.
