Kenya face USA in Kabaddi World Cup semis warm-up

Kenya will warm up for their semi final showing at the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup when they play bottom-side USA in their last pool stage round robin clash on Tuesday.

The East Africans dispatched Japan 48-27 to seal their place in the last four from Pool B with their clash against the Americans who have lost all their four games a formality.

Kenya are second in Pool B with 11 points with Iran top of the table with 20.

James Obilo facilitated the much-needed win against Japan to emerge the game’s top scorer with 13 as he inflicted more suffering on the more-experienced Japanese team.

Kenya displayed great teamwork with pre-planned plans against the Asians taking lead with 11-5 points.

As the game proceeded towards the end of the first half, Japan clawed back to trail 13-16 hoping that their skipper, Masayuki Shimokawa would redeem them from a possible exit.

In other matches of the day, Kabaddi enthusiasts will be looking forward to the match between three-time World Cup winners, India and England in their pool A match later in the evening.

India are second in their table with 16 points behind Korea who have 25 points while England is at third place with 10 points.

In their last matches, India maxed their scores on Argentina showcasing their experience with a 74 – 20 defeat. While England lost 17-56 points to fourth placed in pool A, Korea.

On Sunday, Indian skipper Anup Kumar announced his international retirement after the ongoing Kabaddi World Cup adding that he will continue playing the Pro-Kabaddi League (PKL).
