Kenya Morans storm AfroCan final in Mali

The national men basketball team Morans reached the final of the FIBA AfroCan in majestic fashion when they thumped Morocco 96-66 in Bamako, Mali on Thursday night.

Eric Reuben Mutoro exploded for 32 points to spark the resounding victory for the Kenyans who dominated the opening three quarters of their semi-final clash with Tylor “Durango” Ongwae sinking 20.

Morans will be on a revenge mission in Saturday’s final where they will face DR Congo in a repeat of their Group B opening clash that saw Kenya slump to an 82-65 defeat.

Mutoro sunk 18 points in the opening quarter firing Morans to a dominant 27-11 triumph, before winning 23-15 and 27-20 in the third and fourth quarter successively powered by sparkling performances from Okall Koranga and Tom Wamukota.

Their North African rivals managed to get a slim 19-20 win in the last quarter which was not enough to deliver them from the charging Morans.

Morans’ Griffin Ligare and Ongwae made game-high assist of 6 apiece with Mutoro remaining lethal in three-pointers sinking 6.

Kenyan basketball ace Ongwae is rated top in the Most Valuable player table ahead of Chad’s Micheal Koibe and Guinea’s Cedric Mansare, Ongwae so far has managed to sink 109 points in the entire competition.
