Kenya names Rio Olympics Rugby training squad

The Kenya Rugby Union has named the Kenya Sevens 18-man training squad that will form the cluster to represent Kenya at the Sevens Rugby Competition in the August’s Rio Olympics Games in Brazil.

According to the union’s official site, Kenya Sevens Head Coach Benjamin Ayimba, named the squad that is expected to commence training immediately.

Sammy Oliech, Nelson Oyoo and Frank Wanyama, who broke through the ranks to feature prominently in the recently concluded 2015/16 HSBC Sevens World Series, were named in the squad alongside Kabras Sugar’s Brian Tanga.

Bush Mwale, Oscar Ouma and Biko Adema, who missed the final round of the series, will also be part of the 18-man training team together with regulars Andrew Amonde and record try-scorer Collins Injera.

The squad will, however, be reduced to a 12-man team that will travel to Rio De Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics.

The full Kenya Sevens Olympics Training Squad include: Augustine Lugonzo, Collins Injera, Willy Ambaka, Andrew Amonde,Nelson Oyoo, Oscar Ayodi, Humphrey Kayange, Sammy Oliech,Frank Wanyama, Alvin Otieno, Biko Adema, Oscar Ouma, Billy Odhiambo,Jeff Oluoch, Leonard Mugaisi, Brian Tanga, Bush Mwale, Dennis Ombachi.
