Kenya Police thrash Arusha in hockey tourney

Kenya Police thrashed Tanzanian club Arusha 13-0 on Tuesday as the hockey Astroturf Inauguration tournament entered Day Two at the sheikh Union Club in Nairobi.

Titus Kimutai’ five strikes, Vincent Odindo’s brace as well as goals from Robert Masibo, Willis Okeyo, Wokila Samuel, Samson Kibirir, Echenje Oliver and Kiptaili Moses condemned Arusha to the crushing defeat.

Kenya police dominated the game as they showed their strength from the third minute when Masibo scrambled home the opener.

Kimutai then exploded for a five-goal blitz including two in three minutes as he single-handedly ended the visitors’ hopes.

The police utilized their chances this including punishing the visitors through the penalty corners which they converted swiftly to extended their lead in the scoreboard.

In another encounter USIU Hockey Club against Indian based club Sports Authority of India (SAI) at the same venue.

USIU suffered a 2-0 defeat against the visitors after Topno Michel gave his side the first goal in the third quarter having been held in a barren draw with for the first two quarters.

Tom Olal’s  led side were silenced in the last quarter after having played their last quarter poorly by missing open chances including the penalty corners, SAI utilized the Penalty Corner they received to silence the home side team with only eight minutes remaining.
