Kenya Sevens slump to Australia, England in Dubai

Kenya started their Sevens World Series campaign on a losing note, going down 12-14 to Australia in a Dubai Sevens Pool D encounter at the Sevens in Dubai on Friday 4 December 2015.

It was Kenya who had the better of the exchanges as the game kicked off, Augustine Lugonzo eventually going over the chalk with Biko Adema converting for a 7-0 lead that they took into the break.

The Aussies would be reduced to six men when Henry Speight was sin binned for a professional foul before Frank Wanyama, on as a second half substitute,would land his maiden try on his debut and Kenya’s second of the day, Adema missing the conversion with the scores
at 12-0.

James Stannard would convert Tom Cusack and Pama Fou’s tries as Aussies ran out with the result.

Kenya’s next match is against England at 1.58pm EAT (GMT+3).

Meanwhile, the Kenya Lionesses are through to the final of the bowl competition at the Dubai Sevens International Invitational Women’s Category after beating TUKS Ladies 19-12. The side had earlier lost their match day one encounters in Pool C, losing 7-31 to Great Britain Select, 5-15 to Colombia and 24-29 to the Tokyo Phoenix.

Playing with only 8 players, Kenya’s Watembezi Potbellies fell out of the vets tournament, after giving away two walkovers in between crashing to a 0-67 loss at the hands of the Bali Dragon

Kenya dropped to the bowl competition at the Dubai Sevens, putting in a battling display in the 12-19 Pool D loss to England at The Sevens in Dubai.

The two sides were tied 5-5 at the interval, England going ahead with an unconcerned try before Kenya’s talisman Collins Injera touched down,Biko Adema missing the conversion.

Second half action saw Kenya take the game to England,coming unstuck when the Poms landed two converted tries but battling Kenya never tired,rookie Nelson Oyoo released by Injera,outsprinting his marker to touch down for his maiden World Series try,Adema converting for the 12-19 final result.
