Kenya to face England in Vancouver Main Cup quarters

The national rugby sevens team Shujaa will face England in the Vancouver  Main Cup quarterfinals after finishing second in Pool C.

The Kenyans won their opening fixtures against France (14-7) and Spain (43-0) before going down to Fiji (24-21) having already sealed a last 8 slot.

In the first game Shujaa managed to stage a comeback against France to run away victorious with a 14-7 win.

Sammy Oliech of Impala Saracens brushed himself from a dangerous tackle from the French defender’s to restore parity for Shujaa but missed the conversion.

However In the second half a nagging Kenyan side camped on the French 22 yard only for Veteran skipper Oscar ‘Big Wheels’ Ouma to score after a series of offloads from the Kenyans.

The winning try from Ouma and a conversion from Oliech closed the proceedings of the Spanish Kenya game.

However in the second game for Shujaa against Spain, Kenya in a one sided game were fortunate enough to record two wins in two games.

Kenya whitewashed a helpless Spain 43-0 to automatically qualify for the Cup quarter’s.

Billy Odhiambo making his comeback in the Sevens series ran over a few Spanish defender’s to score on the left corner of the flag on for Sammy Oliech to miss the Conversion.

Skipper Oscar Ouma received a perfect loop from Dan Sikuta to ran over Spain swipper to score on the right corner of the flag in a ping pong like game in favour of Kenya,Oliech adding the extras.

The Burly Willy Ambaka introduced himself to the game with a 40 metre run to score on the far end of the field,Oliech again missing the conversion.

Before the hooter Ambaka got his brace after Shujaa exchanged beautiful passes for Ambaka to touch down easily for Kenya.

Soon after the break scoreboard reading 22-0 In favour of Kenya, Menengai Cream Homeboyz forward Jeff Oluoch ran over four Spanish defender’s to score an individual effort under the post with substitute Eden Agero adding the extras.

An overhead kick from Kabras Sugar forward Dan Sikuta saw him set up KCB Arthur Owira who collected the bouncing egg shaped ball to score under the post Agero adding the extras.

Top Fry Nakuru speedster Nelson Oyoo added his name to the score sheet after a collective display from the Shujaa side with exchange of beautiful passes to score the try.

Agero who was enjoying the Canadian weather booting the conversion to settle the scores at 43-0 with a game I hand against the mighty Fijians.

However Shujaa have qualified for the Cup quarter’s tomorrow after their win against France and Spain awaiting Fiji in the last game of the day.
