Kenya to face Somalia, Eritrea in CECAFA Under-15 tourney
The national football Under-15 side has been placed in Pool A alongside Somalia, Eritrea and Burundi in the inaugural CECAFA Boys Challenge Cup following the draws published Tuesday.
Eritrea will host the 11-team regional tournament from August 16 to September 1 where the top three teams in Pools A and B will qualify for the quarter-finals.
Pool C, which has three teams including Tanzania, Sudan and Djibouti, will produce only two teams to join those in pool A and either Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Sudan in Pool B.
Kenya will kick off her questagainst Somalia on August 16 after which they face Burundi on August 19 before wrapping up the group stages on August 23 against Eritrea.
Hosts Eritrea last staged a Cecafa tournament in 2010 on the occasion of the Under-20 Challenge Cup. The new tournament, to be sponsored by the “Fifa Forward Programme” initiative, will be the first under-15 tournament to be staged in Africa.
Kenya will kick off the under I5 challenge cup against Somalia on August 16 after which they face Burundi on August 19 before they wrap up the group stages on August 23 against Eritrea.
