Kenya to host U20 Barthes Trophy for three consecutive years

Kenya has been awarded the rights to host the U-20 Barthes Trophy for three consecutive years, Rugby Africa said on Tuesday adding that this year’s edition will be held on April 19, 22 and 26 in Nairobi, Kenya.

Kenya Rugby Union chairman Gangla Oduor says that they will work closely with Rugby Africa, the government, commercial sponsors, media and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the events.

Oduor also hailed Sports CS Mohammed for welcoming supporting the bid.

The tourney is the only junior tournament in the continent and eight national U-20 teams will square it out.

Kenya are the defending Barthes champions after they narrowly beat Namibia 21-18 in a match played at Nairobi’s KCB Sports Club last year.

In this year’s edition, the Paul Odera coached  charges have been drawn in Pool A alongside Madagascar, Tunisia and Zambia while last year’s finalists Namibia while grace Pool B and will battle it out with Senegal, Zimbabwe and Côte d’Ivoire.
