Kenya two places up in latest FIFA ranking

Kenya has improved by two places to number 102 in the latest FIFA rankings released on Wednesday, after 185 international matches were played across the March international break.

Kenya has remained second in the East Africa region after playing four matches in the month of March, winning against Southern Sudan and Tanzania in friendlies and beating Togo after drawing with Egypt in their last AFCON qualifying matches.

After dropping by four places in the last ranking, Uganda have dropped further by one place to position 84. Tanzania has gone down by two places to position 137.

Sudan and Rwanda have gone up by four places each to number 123 and 129 respectively.

Despite dropping by two positions to number 22 in the world, Senegal remain number one in Africa followed by Tunisia, Nigeria, Algeria and Morocco respectively in position 26, 32, 33 and 34 in the world.

South Africa’s miserable failure to qualify for the AFCON has seen Bafana Bafana drop four places to 75th.

The top six globally has not changed, with Belgium still dominating ahead of France, Brazil, England, Portugal and Spain.

Italy have climbed to seventh spot after moving ahead of Argentina and Uruguay, whose respective South American World Cup qualifiers were postponed.

There is also a new entrant into the top 10 after Denmark broke into the elite list ahead of Mexico, who have dropped two places from ninth to eleventh.

This edition’s most improved African sides in terms of points, Malawi (115, +8), Cape Verde (73, +7) and Ethiopia (140, +6).
