Kenya won in my selection, Arsenal bound Mohammed declares

London bound Young Talent Soccer Academy Coach Hamisi Mohamed says Kenya is the prime winner of the Arsenal FC and WorldRemit “Future Stars” coaching program, which he topped among 700 peers.

On Tuesday, Mohammed was declared the winner after garnering 35 percent of the total votes cast for the six finalists, who had been shortlisted from best 25 of the 700.

Mohamed, popularly known as coach Kaka beat Ahmed Ali from (Somalia), Adegun Shola (Nigeria), Innocent Yeboah-Num (Ghana), Titus Sanangurai (Zimbabwe) and the only woman who made the final six, South Africa’s Tersia Davids to the coveted slot.

Thus, the Ngong based coach will be joining the English football giants in two month’s time for high profile training program that he hopes will impact greatly football talent nurturing in Kenya.

“My main goal is to acquire skills and knowledge then come back to Kenya and look for partners and companies who can support coaching courses, so that I share my experience with other coaches in the grassroots level.

“My desire is growing capacity to focus on young talent being into a great players and that’s how we are going to take Kenyan football to greater heights. That’s how we can finally World Cup,” stated the coach.

Mohamed said Arsenal contacted him after the winning, allowing him two months to prepare before confirming his preferred commencement dates window.

He was once appointed Under-20 national team assistant coach, with some Kenyan Premier League (KPL) teams seeking his services which he declined to concentrate on his academy founded in 2007.

However, he has hinted he would take up such roles in the future, having seen his academy stabilize significantly with other competent coaches coming on board.

By now, Mohammed trains about 120 children aged between 8-17 years at his Young Talents Soccer Academy in Embul Bul, Ngong.
