Kenyan Beach Games squad set for return

The Kenyan team that represented the country during the inaugural Africa Beach Games in Sal, Cape Verde is set to jet back from the island later Wednesday.

A total of 54 countries competed in the continental tournament that involved 11 different sports with almost 1000 athletes present at the island of Sal.

The team will depart from Cape Verde through Casablanca and Doha in Qatar before connecting to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

“Cape Verde has been good to us. We start the Journey back to Kenya through Casablanca and Doha, last leg of  #TeamKenya journey back home starts now from Doha, Qatar. ETA 3PM,” The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) posted on their social media pages.

Among the teams that participated in the games include Men’s and Women’s handball, soccer men, tennis and Kite Boarding.

Kenya won three medals from the tournament with the duo of Gaudencia Makokha and Naomi Too bagging bronze medal in the women beach volleyball while Fazal Khan and Ibrahim Yego claimed another bronze medal in the men’s beach tennis.

Charles Yosei Mneria clinched the only silver medal for Kenya in the men’s half marathon in the opening day of the championship.
