Kenyan clubs maintain perfect starts in Cairo Games
Five-time Africa champions Kenya Prisons continued with their dominant performance at the African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Cairo, winning their second consecutive match with straight sets over Ivorian side Asec Mimosa this afternoon.
The 2013 continental champions who opened the campaign with a 3-0 win over Customs of Nigeria last evening defeated the Ivoirians Asec 25-7, 25-17 and 25-12.
Ecstatic coach David Lung’aho hailed Sharon Chepchumba for her powerful attacks that proved too much for Asec to withstand.
Their counterparts and seven-time winners Kenya Pipeline also posted their second successive win at the Egyptian capital, seeing off Vision of Uganda 3-1 (7-25, 26-24, 13-25, 15-25) to go top of Pool C on six points. Last year’s runners-up El Shams are also level on six points.
The local champions will play against DGSP of Congo on Friday in their third pool C tie at 7PM before facing FAP of Cameroon in their final group stages match on Saturday at 6PM Kenyan time.
