Kenyan rugby in fresh mourning as Mwamba player dies

Mwamba RFC scrum-half Victor Wayodi who collapsed during a Kenya Cup tie against Top Fry Nakuru has passed on, plunging the Kenyan rugby fraternity into profound grief and emotional anguish.

His death comes at a time when the sport has barely recovered from the heartache of losing Nondescripts RFC center Ogeto Gecheo who passed on barely a week ago.

Gecheo had suffered a spinal injury after tackling an opponent during their Kenya Cup tie against Strathmore University Leos a week ago where a disc in his neck reportedly slipped, resulting in spinal damage.

A largely successful surgery saw Gecheo regain control of his limbs and was scheduled to begin physiotherapy but he developed breathing problems early Tuesday morning and was pronounced dead at 3am.

Incidentally, both are Maseno School alumni with Gecheo captaining the high school rugby powerhouse to the 2015 KSSA Games finals.
