Kimani says Leopards wont give up title chase

AFC Leopards interim coach Anthony Kimani says his side will continue chasing the Kenyan Premier League title despite yesterday’s latest setback in Nakuru that left them 10 points off the pace.

Leopards lost 1-0 to Tusker at Afraha Stadium, ending their run of three successive league wins but Kimani says they will not give up the title race which they haven’t won since 1998.

Timothy Otieno scored the winner for Tusker and Elvis Rupia spurned a penalty for Leopards but coach Kimani refused to blame the new signing for the loss saying that it wasn’t the only chance they missed.

“We have just slipped but not fallen, and in the world of football anything can happen. The difference is ten points and those are three or four matches so we shall continue to push on.

“We knew we were going to face one of the high performing teams in the league; they have had good results lately and have been very consistent and we knew we had a very tough job to do. We didn’t utilise our chances and they made us pay for it,” Kimani told Citizen Digital after the defeat

Th result pushed Tusker into second place on the KPL standings on 41 points points, three adrift champions Gor Mahia FC who suffered a 3-1 shock defeat at Sofapaka on Saturday.
