Wazito FC head coach Francis Kimanzi has been named FKF Premier League January coach of the month.
The former Harambee Stars coach led the FKF-PL moneybags to five wins in January during a run that lifted them to third in the league by the end of January.
Kimanzi saw off competition from Robert Matano of Tusker FC who picked four wins and a draw in January. The Brewers currently sit at the helm of the standings.
Wazito started the year with a 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars at Utalii Grounds before seeing AFC Leopards by a solitary goal at the same venue.
Utalii proved to be a good hunting ground for Wazito as they came from a goal down to register a 2-1 win over Bidco United in their third match of the month.
Their last two matches of the month were moved to Kasarani but they still maintained their winning streak. They defeated Nzoia Sugar 2-1 before ending the month with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz.
The recognition comes with a token of 50,000 shillings and a personalized trophy. Kimanzi becomes the second recipient of the award after KCB’s Zedekiah Otieno who bagged the maiden December accolade.
The winners of the monthly awards are selected by a panel of journalists.
